“Medice, cura te ipsum”
~Proverb, 6th Century BC
People who care for other living beings are stewards of hard stories. Many work in high-trauma work environments, public service roles, non-profit leadership positions, and research labs tirelessly advocating for the plight of the invisible, marginalized, unwell and undervalued. Many of them are unsure how to manage the empathic strain that is the cost of caring.
We are committed to supporting evidence-informed approaches to grow, develop, and sustain us for the long haul. It’s the most important work we can do.
SECONDARY TRAUMATIC STRESS
Empathic Strain (formally called Compassion Fatigue) impacts work productivity, leads to burnout, and costs agencies millions of dollars a year in turnover. We specialize in helping individuals and teams implement manageable strategies that lead to enhanced performance, team cohesion, and improvements in workplace health.
Non-profit agencies struggle to engage their boards in trauma-responsive transformation efforts. We work with agency strategic planning initiatives to embed these principles across all aspects of the agency strategic plan.
We design Secondary Traumatic Stress training for agencies doing high-trauma work. Training and assessment can be an important first step to identifying comprehensive agency needs and protocols for management of STS. Being a Trauma-Responsive agency requires being Secondary Traumatic Stress Informed as well. Let us help you reach that goal!
